What you have to do to establish occupational retirement provision via Vita

Employers are required by law to report employees who must have a pension plan to the pension fund. This ensures that the contributions for the occupational pension plan are billed correctly and that the employees are insured. Employees are subject to occupational benefits if they receive an annual salary of more than CHF 21,150, have reached the age of 17 and are employed for an unlimited period of more than three months.

This is how you proceed as an employer

  1. The easiest method for you is to calculate the premiums for a new employee comfortably online and to register the employee via our online employee pension plan.
  2. As an alternative, you can also use the Registration for an occupational pension plan form.
  3. Please sent the completed form by mail or email, stating your contract number, to:

    Zurich Insurance Company Ltd
    Help Point BVG
    P.O. Box
    8085 Zurich
    bvg@zurich.ch

Please note

We will record the admission of your employee and send you an invoice for your new premium. On the new invoice you can see how your premiums as a whole have changed due to the new registration. Further information for your employees can be found under This is how you proceed as an employee.

Your next steps

Please give your new employee the pay-in slip for the transfer of their benefit. The employee's previous pension plan will transfer the insured's savings capital to Vita. In this way, you as an employer will benefit from lower costs for the risk of the employee's death, and the employee will benefit from the high interest earned on their savings capital with Vita.

This is how you proceed as an employee

You have changed employer and have recently joined Vita. If you were already working prior to registering with Vita and have saved pension fund assets, you as an employee are responsible for ensuring that the retirement assets you have already saved are transferred from the previous pension plan to Vita. The procedure differs depending on the pension planning solution.

You are new to Vita Classic or Vita Plus:

  1. To transfer the pension assets which you have already saved into Vita, we recommend that you download our Vested benefits when changing jobs form and add your name, date of birth, AHV number, new employer and the affiliation contract number.
  2. Send a letter (a sample letter can be found here) and the completed Vested benefits when changing jobs form to your previous pension plan so that your new pension plan has all the necessary information to transfer your departure payment.
  3. As soon as we have credited your departure payment to your pension savings, you will receive your new Vita pension certificate.

You are new to Vita Invest or Vita Select

If you have recently joined Vita Invest or Vita Select, please request the deposit slip designated for the pension fund from your employer directly or call us on 0800 80 80 80

Please note

If you do not inform your previous employer's pension plan where your saved retirement savings capital should be transferred to within six weeks of your leaving, it is required by law to transfer your  departure payment to the auxiliary fund foundation. In this case, a vested benefits account will be opened in your name with the foundation. The auxiliary fund foundation manages occupational pension assets transferred by pension plans on behalf of The Confederation, should no notification be received. You can find further information about the foundation here.

If you do not know where your departure payment from previous pension plans is located, you can ask the pillar 2 central office. The pillar 2 central office is the connection point between the pension plans and the insurance.
